Handlebars

With my work I am attempting to create, not so much a painting, as much as an effort to paint something I can and cannot materialize.   I want a quiet agony to arise through my art, the agony of having the capacity to realize my thoughts, and the inability to fully capture it.  I want to explore this tension that exists in painting; that, the closer you feel you are getting to the finished product, the more you are in danger of moving farther away from it.  It is like trying to hold something very fragile and delicate, something that is also trying desperately to slip away.  To keep it contained you must maintain a firm grasp, but the firmer your grasp, the more you begin to destroy it.
